LEGACY

REAL ESTATE

The Coldwell Banker® brand was born from the partnership and vision of two men who transformed the way the real estate business was conducted. Even today, their legacy forms the foundation of our identity.

1906

A Powerful Beginning

In 1906, an earthquake and a large fire destroyed 80% of San Francisco. At ages 23 and 28, Colbert Coldwell and Arthur Benjamin Banker set out to help rebuild the city and, more importantly, to revive the principles of ethics, integrity, and dedication within the real estate profession. Their efforts established the groundwork for a company that would become instrumental in the city’s recovery and the revitalization of its neighborhoods.

1950

A New Era of Growth

Entering the post-war boom, Coldwell Banker® brand emerged as a leading force in commercial real estate, shaping urban skylines through office towers and development projects that mirrored the confidence and prosperity of modern America.

1996

Going Global and Digital

Coldwell Banker real estate opened its first international office in Toronto, Canada, and launched ColdwellBanker.com, becoming the first major real estate brand to establish a digital presence — marking the dawn of online property discovery.

2006

A Century of Excellence

Celebrating 100 years of leadership, Coldwell Banker real estate was honored by San Francisco’s mayor and President George W. Bush, recognizing a century of innovation, trust, and contribution to shaping the modern real estate industry.
